PREMIUM SOD INSTALLATION
Warm Season Grasses
We offer two varieties of warm season grasses: Bermuda and Zoysia. Both kinds of grass originate from tropical regions and thrive in a hot climate. During autumn and winter months, the cold weather causes these grasses to fade to brown and go dormant until spring.
Bermuda grasses are available as either sod or sprigs. These grasses are low maintenance and easy to grow. Due to their tropical origins, bermudagrasses a very tolerant to high heat. In contrast, they become dry and brittle during the winter.
You don’t need to have a green thumb to care for Zoysia grasses! The drought tolerant sod is very durable and beginner friendly. Zoysia grasses flourish with almost any combination of water and sunlight. This sod is low maintenance but incredibly durable. Zoysia is resistant to diseases, insects, and weeds. Its soft texture is very appealing for homeowners, making it a popular selection for lawns.
Tall Fescue
Cool season sod like tall fescue can withstand even the most bitter winter weather. Maryland certified tall fescue sod is a popular selection for sports fields due to its tough nature. It can support heavy foot traffic from soccer games without displaying markings or damage.

Sod FAQs
Why choose sod?
Sod is the quickest, most reliable, and cost-effective way to establish a lush lawn. Seeding often takes years and the results can be uneven or disappointing. With sod, you get an instant, weed-free, and disease-free lawn. Think of it as the ready-made solution for your yard—convenient, practical, and in the long run, the most affordable choice. We’ve already done the hard work for you, and we stand behind the quality of our premium turf grasses.
When can sod be installed?
Sod can be laid as soon as grass begins to come out of dormancy in early spring and until the ground freezes in late fall—generally from March through Christmas.
Can sod be installed in the summer?
Yes. Sod can be laid in midsummer as long as it is properly watered so the roots can take hold in the soil.
How should the soil be prepared?
For best results, we recommend 4–6 inches of quality topsoil. Loosen the soil with a tiller or by hand, making sure to keep good topsoil on top. Final grading should smooth out any clumps or low spots. Before laying sod, it’s also best to apply lime and fertilizer at recommended rates so that nutrients are available as the roots grow.
What’s the best watering schedule?
Immediately after installation, sod should be watered deeply. In hot weather, this is especially important. It’s better to water thoroughly and often rather than waiting until signs of wilting appear.
When can I mow my new sod?
New sod can usually be mowed within 6–7 days after installation, once it reaches about 1½–2 inches tall. Keep mower blades sharp and avoid cutting off too much at once—frequent, lighter mowing is best.
Are there traffic restrictions?
Yes. Avoid heavy use of your new sod until the roots are well established, usually 2–3 weeks. Hold off on activities like rough play, dog traffic, or heavy use for at least 4 weeks.
How often should I fertilize?
A regular feeding schedule is key to a healthy lawn. We recommend fertilizing in early spring and again in early fall with a reliable turf fertilizer. Always water after applying fertilizer to prevent burning the grass.
Do I need to apply lime?
Soil testing will determine your lawn’s lime needs, but generally 60–80 pounds of ground limestone per 1,000 sq. ft. every 2–3 years is recommended. Lime can be applied at any time of year.
